Have you always wanted to try yoga but did not know where to start? Here are 5 simple yoga poses that will help you get started! 

downward dog. From plank pose, lift your hips so you are an upside down V.  Press your chest towards your knees, look at your toes and try to press your heels flat to the floor. Breathe in and out for 1-2 minutes.

upward dog. Lie flat on your belly and put your palms flat on either side of your chest. Look straight ahead with your chin up on the mat. Straighten your arms. Hold for a few breaths and then release your body back to the floor. 

warrior II. Stand at the front of your mat. Step one of your feet back about 4 feet. Turn your back heel 90 degrees so your toes are pointing away from your body. Slowly bend into your front leg- your shin should be perpendicular to the floor. Stretch your arms out and turn your eyes towards your front fingers. Hold for 30 seconds to a minute. 

plank pose. Hands should be directly under your shoulders. Feet are slightly apart. Push through your hands and don’t sink in. Hold it for 1-2 minutes. Be strong! 

tree pose. Your first balancing pose! Focus on having a strong standing leg. Pick one spot to look at. Carefully bring your other foot up and against your standing leg. If you fall out, get back in it. Try holding it for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
